吉米（安迪·加西亞 Andy Garcia 飾）曾經(jīng)在黑道中過(guò)著刀尖舔血的危險(xiǎn)生活，當(dāng)他厭倦了整日提心吊膽之后，他決定金盆洗手，如今，他經(jīng)營(yíng)著一家錄像帶租售的店鋪，小日子過(guò)得相當(dāng)不錯(cuò)，亦很安全。
一天，吉米意外的遭人綁架，原來(lái)那是他曾經(jīng)效忠過(guò)的老大想要見(jiàn)他。老大希望吉米能夠幫助他去執(zhí)行一項(xiàng)非常“簡(jiǎn)單”的任務(wù)，去小小地“嚇一嚇”自己兒子的前女友，以及這個(gè)女人的新歡，吉米無(wú)奈只能接下了這個(gè)活計(jì)。本以為這是很快便可以完成的任務(wù)，但漸漸地，吉米發(fā)現(xiàn)，事態(tài)的發(fā)展超越了他的預(yù)計(jì)，他所面臨的，竟然是殺身之禍。
